Trasylol Safety Concerns Ignored by Bayer
Trasylol, which was approved in the U.S. in 1993 and has been linked to serious safety concerns since early 2006. In fact when Bayer went before the FDA to contest the findings of another study, Bayer failed to disclose the fact that their own Trasylol study indicated the same serious Trasylol side effects and results. If Bayer had disclosed the fact, most likely it would have been pull off the market immediately. Instead it took the FDA eight months to initiate the widespread Trasylol recall after the physicians' warnings. These delays in action have been estimated to cause the death of 1,000 patients each month. Bayer has been accused of withholding negative reports about Trasylol from the FDA in order to maintain profits.
